A new season.

We took the summer months to lay low and keep building something that works.

No small talk! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

The Usage Calculator = nicer to look at & easier to use. : )

The Usage Calculator got a bit of a refresh to keep the tools easy to use and interpret at a glance.

Over time, we’ll also be building in better feedback loops into the tools too. If something feels out of place or seems off in terms of an estimate, you’ll be able to let us know with a click. Same if it feels spot on. This helps us constantly help to reflect current industry standard rates based on the market you’re in.

It’s just two of us here at BaseRate, so this is on the roadmap but not here just yet. Just want to let you know what improvements we’re making as we go. : )

The Production Budget Builder is getting a massive UI overhaul (& cutting building time in half)

We’re currently working on updates to the Production Budget Builder that will make it a LOT easier to navigate between budget sections and make overall changes to multiple roles. Very WIP, but wanted to give you all a taste of what’s being worked on in the background.

A small sneak peak of that below:

I have to admit, I’m most excited about this tool upgrade (next month 🤞) because as someone who creates budgets for shoots on a weekly basis, this is going to save me *hours* every week and make the least fun part of my job better and shorter.

Just like the Usage Calculator, I built this for myself first to later turn over to you to use for your own purposes. Your input has been so incredibly helpful in making BaseRate better bit by bit and please keep it coming.
